Alpine Broadcasting Corporation, WAVV 101.1FM
The late Norm Alpert (1929-2018) was the founder, owner and President of Alpine Broadcasting Corporation and WAVV 101.1FM.
After a successful early media career, as a National TV and Radio Media sales rep and manager, at The Eastman Company in New York, Mr. Alpert purchased and developed his first radio station, WHOM-FM, in Portland, Maine.
Upon the successful sale of WHOM-FM, Mr. Alpert founded, developed and placed WAVV 101.1FM, Naples, Florida on the air in 1987.
WAVV 101.1FM would soon go on to become the highest rated radio station in the Ft. Myers/Naples market holding the #1 ratings position for the last 25 years.
Under Norm Alpert’s personal direction and guidance, WAVV developed and refined its unique, custom music format presentation known today as “Modern Easy Favorites”.
In addition to WAVV, Mr. Alpert also owned and operated radio stations in other markets including Greenville, South Carolina, Sarasota, Florida and Knoxville, Tennessee.
Norm Alpert was a top-notch broadcaster, radio business executive and community leader over his long and stellar career.
His proud legacy is the continued ratings and business success of WAVV 101.1FM and its staff of talented and dedicated professionals that he cared so very much for.
Thanks to Norm Alpert, WAVV 101.1FM listeners and advertisers continue to enjoy great music and beneficial advertising opportunities to this day and into the future!
